2025 Retrospective
Published on December 30, 2025
Hello!
Welcome to the 2025 retrospective! It is the first time I have made one of these, but I thought it would be the best type of ritual to properly say goodbye to the mess that was 2025, and say welcome to the mess that 2026 will inevitably become. Time passes by us a lot faster than any of us would wish, and it seems to speed up the older we get. Therefore, to give the year the sendoff it deserves, let's look at what I managed to accomplish this year.
For those unaware, I am not only a videogame programmer - I am also a comic artist and an author. June 23, 2024 I released the first chapter of my comic Remy, after working on it for almost a year. Since then, my pace has sped up significantly. I released chapter 6 on February 24th, and as of writing this I am working on chapter 9. It now takes me about 1 and a half months to finish a chapter, if nothing else gets in the way (which it often does). The comic has entered its first real arc, the Theta-32 arc, where Tyler Ventura is being held hostage by the mercenaries Champagne, Butch and Prince. Instead of sitting around and waiting for Remy to rescue him, Tyler is trying to figure out a way to get himself out of there.
I have also spent a significant amount of time improving the first chapter by adding backgrounds. When I started out making the comic, I often ignored backgrounds since I wasn’t any good at them. However, now that I am more confident, and I am more worried about retention, I have made an effort to put them on the same quality level. Chapter 2 drops in quality again, since a lot of it was not cleaned up in digital. This will also be rectified in the future.
My pace has taken a hit due to taking a course with the Swedish government in construction, which began in September. However, I am staying diligent in order to get chapters out. One big problem is that I have not had a job for about 2 years now, and I do not get enough money through Patreon and Kofi. If you like my work, and want to see more, those two channels are the best way to support me.
Being a comic artist, it’s probably not a surprise that I am also authoring. I have written the arc up to around chapter 25, but it is still unclear how long it will actually become. At the same time, I have also written several other projects. For example, I have a visual novel in the works which has reached about 250 A4 pages in length now, which I is projected to perhaps release in 2027. Then I have smaller oneshots that I will start releasing on AO3 soon, which are set in the same world as my VN. This setting is more fantasy leaning, as opposed to the cyberpunk story that is Remy.
Finally, my main programming project Yarn Knight, is coming along well despite all my other distractions. A new demo should be able to release some time next year, after the final bugs and art has been cleared out of the way. Yarn Knight is a more classical fantasy setting, inspired by the twin stick shooter in Stardew Valley. As for the inspirations, I have chosen to steer away from the more stereotypical European inspirations, avoiding French, German and English cultures. The first two settings in the arcade game are inspired by the Basque Country and the great rift valley. Stay tuned for news on Yarn Knight!
I have hopes that 2026 will be a better year, and hopefully see more releases and finished projects. I will refrain from making exact projections, so that I do not make promises I can not keep. But I expect to release at least another 5 chapters of Remy next year, and perhaps some other oneshot comics. I also intend to release more oneshot stories on AO3, with at least 3 well on the way. Finally, I hope to have a steam page for Yarn Knight up next year.
To be clear, here is my bucket list for 2026.
- At least 5 more chapters of Remy, bringing us up to chapter 14!
- A comic I am working on for the Nosebleed studios contest
- Perhaps more comics? /coy
- A oneshot for AO3 that’s toxic yaoi
- A oneshot for AO3 that’s even more toxic yaoi (yikes)
- A oneshot for AO3 that’s about shitty rock
- A oneshot for AO3 that’s about salt (and non-toxic yaoi) (yes these oneshots don’t actually take me a lot of time to make, lol)
- Steam page for Yarn Knight, and a demo
- Hopefully go into alpha for my visual novel
